According to Wikipedia it is
"the world's fifth longest in total suspension and the longest suspension bridge between achorages in the Western hemisphere" (Wikipedia)
Now we say three of the five Great Lakes - two more to go.
After passing the Straits of Mackinac we left the freeway and drove along the seashore of Lake Huron, going south, passing Rogers City and Oscada. South of Oscada we were hit by a heavy rainstorm with lighting and visibiity of just a few yards. Well we got through this and arrived well at our today's destination in Birch Run, MI.

The Bridge across the "Straits of Mackinac"
Beautiful shots of those bridges. The bridge across the straits of Mackinac appears so similar to our own Golden Gate, but apparently yours there is much longer. ~dj
ReplyDeleteIhr seid ja schon fast an der Ostküste. Fahrt ihr auch zu den Niagarafällen? Bin mal gespannt, wann und wo ihr am Atlantik seid! Weiterhin: Gute Reise! GG
ReplyDeleteHi DJ and GG, thank you both so much that you are following us and that you give me some feedback and some comments.
ReplyDeleteDJ, the bridge was beautiful in the fog which lifted more and more while we were at this viewpoint, and it is I think in total longer than Golden Gate, if I remember correctly, it was more than three miles going across.
GG, we went Niagara today, unfortunately we had a total cloud cover, no real good images. The Falls were amazing even though it was a total ZOO because of the crowds. I wonder how it would be on a weekend in summer.
