Day 4 - Winter Park, Colorado to Cheyenne, Wyoming

Our day started with a surprise. Trail Ridge Road, the road that crosses Rocky Mountain National Park from West to East - a 12 mile road along the pass at an altitude of 10000 feet was still closed. The road is open only a few miles in the West and also in the East. What  did we do - we went into the park from the West, surrounded the park and drove in from the East as well. That was quite some miles of driving. We saw two moose hiding underneath trees, we crossed the continental divide again and drove across Willow Creek Pass at 9621 in the West and Cameron Pass at 10246 in the North. We drove through a beautiful canyon on Hwy 14 along Cache La Poudre River - a must see scenic route - and also drove across three dams at Horsetooth Reservoir. Finally arrived on the eastern side of the park and took a short hike to Bear Lake with distant Hallet Peak in dark clouds. Now resting and relaxing in Cheyenne, WY for two days before we head farther East

Genießt eure Pause, 4 Staaten in 4 Tagen, sicher anstrengend... - weiterhin: Gute Reise! GG

  2. Hi GG, I'll try to help you with a general overview. We crossed the Sierra south of Lake Tahoe and stayed near Reno for the first night. Then we drove partly via hwy 50 and I 80 to Salt Lake. The next day we stayed about 50 miles east of Denver (south of Rocky Mountain National Park). We surrounded the Park and went north on I 25 to Cheyenne, Wyoming. I hope this gives you a better overview.

  3. Thank you for taking us along on your tour! These are all such stunning scenes, yet all so different from one another that it is hard to believe it was all in one day! ~dj
